Jatzyri Perez Garcia is a Golden Door scholar studying to become a nurse at UNC. She is deeply passionate about healthcare and bridging the inequities that exist in underserved populations. Jatzyri is keen on encouraging others to push past boundaries and chase their passions. Living most of her life undocumented and being a first-generation high school graduate and college student, she is always looking for an opportunity to mentor and tutor other students. Currently, she is working on creating resources for undocumented people at UNC. She dreams of using her personal experiences and knowledge as a future healthcare professional to create a program that provides pro-bono healthcare to underrepresented communities.
